I took Matthew to the grocery store the other day. As we were on the baking aisle he informed me he needed birthday candles because it was going to be his birthday. I was surprised he realized his birthday was coming up and was even more surprised he knew he needed candles! I picked out a nice rendition of the number three in wax. When I handed it to Matthew he informed me he was two not three. I explained to him that on his birthday he would be three so we needed a 3 shaped candle. He handed it back and asked for the 2 shaped candle. When I told him I wouldn't buy the 2 he consented to the 3. After this incident I noticed that when people ask Matthew how old he is he now answers, "I am two and three!"
