Take Me Out To The Ballgame(s)!

This year's baseball season has been full of fun and adventure. The weather was not very cooperative and the first few scheduled games were rained out. After that, there were very few games played in warm weather. At the end of the season, we were making up cancelled games and ended up with games everyday and some teams played twice a day. This may not sound too bad, but when you have four kids playing it makes for a hectic schedule. It was fun though. Here are some of the highlights. . .

Luke had the same coaches and many of the same players he had last year. He had more confidence and worked hard. The most memorable part of the season for Luke was when he hit a home run! I've decided it's just as exciting for the mom as it is for the son. Watching him run around the bases with a big grin on his face is a priceless moment.

Lindsey had her first year in team pitch. She was disappointed she didn't get on a team with her friends but she made the most of it. She did a great job hitting the ball and fielding. She played in right field and left field. I think we're both looking forward to next year because I told her I would coach her team.

Heather played machine pitch in an all-girl league. She had a great coach and a fun team. Heather loves playing baseball. She works real hard and gives it her all. I think her favorite part was the party her team had after the season. They played in their coaches backyard on a blow-up waterslide, had pizza, and watched highlights from their season.

Savannah got a late start on her season. We had some miscommunications with the coaches and didn't realize she was on a team until they had already had a couple of games. She was really nervous to start late but she got over it. I thought it would be T-ball but it was actually coach pitch. With no experience whatsoever, Savannah was able to hit the ball everytime. When she was outfield, she would always look so serious with her mitt in her hand, ready for action. She ended up really enjoying the sport and will probably play again next year.

Matthew--well, he didn't play. He did ask me in the beginning when his game was. He wasn't happy when I told him he had to be five. He did get a lot of playing time at the parks and ate a lot of snow cones so I think he ended up with a great season too.

Bear Lake

The first part of June we got to go to Bear Lake and meet up with the rest of the Anderson clan and spend a few days together. Marcia found a great cabin for us to enjoy up on the hillside above Bear Lake. We went up Thursday after school and over the next day or two everyone else met us up there.

The kids had a blast playing with their cousins. It seems we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like. I know Lindsey was counting down the days until she could be with Carissa. The kids had fun playing pool, writing stories, watching movies, playing video games, eating, eating, and eating! There was never a dull moment.

We went down to the beach a couple of times. The water was freezing but the beach was fun. The boys challenged the girls to a sand-castle building contest. The final judgment was that the girls castle was the prettiest and the boys was the most battle worthy.

Davin and Mary drove out from Georgia and we were excited to spend some time with them and their kids. Davin took one for the team when he let the kids throw all the leftover cupcakes at him. It was an experience they will not forget. Davin's sweet little daughter, Livy, was not concerned about the predicament of her father or the pain of thrown pastries, she just calmly kept bringing her dad napkins to help him clean up. It was so sweet to watch.

At the end of the trip, we went home tired, sunburned, full and happy.
